This weightlifter from West Bengal lifted 137 kg in his first attempt. After that, he lifted 140 kg in the second attempt and 143 in the third attempt, creating a Games record and stood at the top. Achinta, who lifted 166 kg easily in the first attempt of clean and jerk, failed to lift 170 kg in the second lift. But in the third attempt, he lifted 170 kg and won the yellow medal with a total of 313 kg. In the same category, Malaysia’s Hidayat (303 kg) won the silver, while Canada’s Shad (298 kg) won the bronze. Meanwhile, Achinta, who won silver in the 2021 Junior World Weightlifting, became the champion in 2019 and 2021 in the Commonwealth Weightlifting category.
