Team India’s new sensation Shubman Gill, who rains runs in any format, has become the ICC Player of the Month for the month of January in the men’s category. Gill broke records in limited overs cricket in January. He scored centuries upon centuries in Sri Lanka and New Zealand series. The 23-year-old Gill hit three consecutive centuries in January. Moreover, he scored 567 runs in this period. He scored a double century in the first match of the series against New Zealand in Hyderabad. He scored 208 runs in just 149 balls with the help of 28 boundaries. He thus created a world record as the youngest player to score a double century in the ODI format. For this prestigious award, Gill faced competition from Team India star pacer Mohammad Siraj and Kiwis star batter Devon Conway. But the ICC favored Gill.

On the other hand, the women’s player of the month award for the month of January was given to England’s young cricketer Grace Scrivens. She scored huge runs in this year’s Under-19 World Cup. Scrivens has now created history as the youngest cricketer to win the award. Gill broke out in the third T20 match against New Zealand at Ahmedabad. He remained unbeaten with 126 runs off just 63 balls. Thus, he became the fifth Indian cricketer to score a century in three international formats, joining Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli.
