Ashwin had a fantastic record in the Test against Australia in Nagpur. Ashwin got the rare honor of knocking back giants Kumble and Muralitharan with the wicket of Alex Carey. So he broke the 18-year-old record.
With the wicket of Alex Carry, Ashwin became the fastest Indian bowler to take 450 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in just 89 Tests. So Ashwin broke Anil Kumble’s record of fastest 450 wickets 18 years ago. Kumble completed 450 wickets in a Test against Pakistan in March 2005. It is a fact that this feat was achieved in 93 matches.
On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin has become the fastest Indian player to take 450 Test wickets and has moved up to the second position in this list. Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan holds the world record for fastest 450-wicket haul in Test cricket so far. It is known that he took 450 wickets in 80 Tests.
