Blind Cricket World Cup: Cricket is more popular than any other sport in India. Cricketers are worshiped like gods. There is no doubt that they are highly respected. But, some cricketers stay away from these. But still making India proud at the international level. There are some of them. Nobody knows about such people. Even the government continues to fail to help such players. Currently, such people are living with a lot of hardships. One such player is Tajinder Pal Singh, a blind cricketer from Jalandhar.
He is famous for being the only player from the Punjab team in blind cricket. Tajinder Singh played World Cup for India. However, he is not getting any help from the government. In 2014, the World Cup final match was played between India and Pakistan in Cape Town, South Africa. Tajinder took two wickets in this match and made India the world champion.

After the World Cup, the cricketer returned to India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The central government has given cash prizes to all the players who have won the World Cup. Speaking on the issue of giving jobs in sports quota, Tajinder Pal lamented that ‘other state governments have given jobs to athletes in good positions in sports quota, but the Punjab government has not given jobs till now’.
Tajinder lost his sight at the age of 8.
Tajinder Pal Singh was only 8 years old when he lost his eyes due to an accident. But, he took steps forward with the passion to play cricket. No matter how many obstacles came.. he did not give up his efforts. So he went to Dehradun and learned to play blind cricket there. He said that it will be like normal cricket but underarm bowling will be done and there will be 3 categories of players. Talking about regular cricket rules, blind cricket is slightly different from international cricket.
Appeal for help from Punjab Govt.
Talking about the condition of his house, he said that till now he has not received any help from the government and whenever he went to the government with a file, he was sent back with some pretext. He said that he is currently earning his livelihood by doing wage work. “There are players from other states who have played with me. Their governments gave them jobs or money. With this they are living their life comfortably. But, Punjab government did not do that. He lamented that no help has been provided so far.
