After days of anticipation and speculation, the BCCI Women’s Premier League (WPL) released the details of the first ‘Players Auction’ on Tuesday, February 7. To this extent, apart from revealing the date and time of the auction, it has also been announced how many players are in the auction. A total of 409 players are participating in the first auction. Only 90 people will get a lucky chance.

Last month, the BCCI announced the auction of five franchises of the WPL. In this Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Lucknow franchises got bids. In this, Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi franchises will go to IPL franchises of these cities, while Ahmedabad has been acquired by Adani Sportsline and Lucknow by Capri Global. Since then everyone has been waiting for the auction.

There has been a demand for women’s IPL on the lines of IPL for a long time. Not only the fans but also the big women cricketers of the world including India have made their case for this. The tournament will start soon.

BCCI said that a total of 1525 players have registered their names for the tournament. A final list of 409 players has been prepared in this.

Of these, 246 are Indian players, while 163 foreign players will be included in the auction. 8 of the foreign players are from associate countries. A total of 202 players have played international cricket while 199 are uncapped players. There are 8 companions.

Only 90 players are lucky chance..

Only these 409 players will be bidding in the auction to be held on February 13 in Mumbai. The BCCI said that a total of 90 players can be bought, of which 30 will be foreigners. That means, each team can only buy a maximum of 18 players in their squad.

Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, U-19 world champion captain Shefali Verma earned the highest Rs. They registered their names with a base prize of 50 lakhs. Apart from her, 20 other players have the highest base price, including big overseas players like Ellys Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine.

Auction in Mumbai

The first auction of WPL will be held in Mumbai on Monday, February 13. It will be held at Jio World Convention Center. The auction will start at 2.30 pm. Meanwhile, the tournament will start from March 4. The final match will be played on March 26. A total of 22 matches will be played in this five-team tournament, and the entire tournament will be held at two venues in Mumbai, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
