The highest bid was received in the name of Ahmedabad. Adani Sportsline acquired the Ahmedabad franchise for Rs 1289 crore. Among the 7 franchises in the men’s IPL, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals have bought women’s teams. In total, BCCI earned Rs.4669.99 crore through this auction. Also this league is named as – Women’s Premier League (WPL).

BCCI has received bids from several companies for this new tournament. It will start for the first time in March this year. After that BCCI announced the names of 5 highest bidder franchises on Wednesday. Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Lucknow cities got franchises in this auction. These five cities already have IPL franchises.
