Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar (47) has made a key announcement that he is withdrawing from his biopic ‘Rawalpindi Express’. On Saturday (January 21), he announced on his social media account that there were violations of the contract and that is why he is withdrawing from the film. Akhtar explained in his post that he has decided to cancel the contract for his biopic. He said that this decision was reached after consultation with the management and legal teams. He said that he will take legal action against those who continue this film and will take strict action against the makers of the film if they use his name or the events of his life.
‘Very sad. After months of deliberation I am terminating the contract through my legal team. I have decided to withdraw from the film Rawalpindi Express. Definitely this is my dream project. I tried hard to keep up with it. But unfortunately everything did not go as planned. Failure to resolve differences amicably resulted in breach of contract and severed ties with the film unit. Shoaib wrote on his official Twitter account that I quit this project only after legally canceling the rights to the story of my biopic.

While Shoaib’s dream project ‘Rawalpindi Express’ is being made based on his life story, it was announced in July last year. Titled ‘Rawalpindi Express – Running Against the Odds’, it is slated to release on November 13 this year. Shoaib had also announced at the time that if everything went as planned, this would be the first foreign film starring a Pakistani sportsperson. But meanwhile, Akhtar made an announcement on social media taking this decision unexpectedly.
