Women’s IPL Teams: Companies owning all 10 teams participating in the Men’s IPL have also purchased tender documents for the Women’s IPL. The women’s IPL teams will be auctioned in Mumbai on January 25.
More than 30 companies have bought tender documents to buy women’s IPL teams. Out of these 30, only 5 companies will be eligible to buy IPL teams on January 25. Among the 30 companies that bought the document were several new ones. These include APL Apollo, Chennai-based Shriram Group, Nilgiri Group, AW Katkuri Group, including snacks maker Haldiram.
Cement companies too..
Chettinad Cement and JK Cement bought the papers. India Cements Company has already bought Chennai Super Kings team in IPL. In such a situation, there may be entry of another cement company in this franchise league. Capri Global, the owner of the Sharjah Warriors team in the ILT20 League, and the Adani Group have also bought the tender documents.
IPL franchises are also in the competition.

The cost of the BCCI tender document is around Rs.5 lakhs. Of all the 30 companies that have bought documents, not all of them are required to participate in the auction to buy the women’s IPL team. Also, it is written in the tender document that the net worth of the company to buy the women’s IPL team is Rs.1000 crores. Many companies have withdrawn their names in such a situation. The sale of tender documents will stop on January 21.
BCCI earned huge amount with media rights..
In the first year of the women’s IPL, the BCCI made around Rs. 125 crore will be received. At the same time, in 2024, it will get around 162 crore rupees. Viacom 18, media rights for Rs. 950 crore (Rs 7.09 crore per match), the company is likely to make a small loss in the first year.
How much does a champion team owner get?
According to media reports, the women’s IPL winning team will receive Rs. 28.08 crores. The second placed team will get Rs 27.20 crores, the third placed team will get Rs 26.33 crores, the fourth placed team will get Rs 25.45 crores and the last team will get Rs 24.57 crores. This revenue share will also increase every year till 2027.
When will women’s IPL start?
The first season of Women’s IPL will start from March 4. 22 matches will be played in the 5-team IPL. After the announcement of all the squads on January 25, there will be a player auction in February. Players can register for Women’s IPL till January 26. A team will have a purse of Rs 12 crore in the auction.
