Wrestlers End Strike Confid
A two-day hunger strike by wrestlers at Jantar Mantar in Delhi has ended in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment against Indian Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers called off the strike after being assured that their problems would be resolved. At the same time, Brij Bhushan Saran Singh will step down from the post till the matter is investigated by the Monitoring Committee. Wrestler Bajrang Punia said that the Union Sports Minister has listened to our demands and assured a proper investigation. I thank them. We hope that there will be a fair trial, so we are calling off the strike,” he said.
Many wrestlers, including Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malika and World Championship medalist Vinesh Phogat, went on strike against Brij Bhushan Saran for sexual harassment and threats.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that they are in continuous discussions with the sportspersons. Everyone made serious allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India. What kind of reforms are wanted has also come to the fore. We have formed an oversight committee. It will complete the investigation in the next 4 weeks. He said the committee will look after the day-to-day operations till the inquiry is completed. Until then, President of Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Singh said that he will stay away. He also said that he will cooperate with the investigation.

At the same time, wrestler Bajrang Punia said that the Union Minister (Anurag Thakur) has assured all the athletes. An explanation was also given to all. We the players are resting our worries as the government has assured us. We are confident that justice will be done.
