The Indian girls are enjoying themselves in the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup being held in South Africa. Team India has taken another step forward with the aim of winning the cup in this prestigious tournament which is being held for the first time in the women’s category. Having already thrashed South Africa and UAE, they also thrashed Scotland on Wednesday. Batting first, India scored 149/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Young cricketer from Telangana Gongadi Trisha (57 off 51 balls, 6 fours) was the top scorer while Richa Ghosh (33) excelled. Trisha, who entered the ring as the opener in this match, gave the team a better start. Star opener Shefali Verma was quick to impress with a responsible innings. Scotland faced the bowling effectively as teammates reached the pavilion in succession. Shweta, who came to bat at the end, played a brilliant innings with 31 runs off just 10 balls and gave the team a respectable score.

Scotland played better as they came into the ring to break the short score. At the end of the power play, they lost only 2 wickets and scored 45 runs on their way to victory. But from here, India’s spin trio did wonders. Mannath Kashyap, Archana Devi Singh and Sonam Yadav made the Scotland girls dot with spinning balls. Left-arm spinner Mannath took four wickets for 12 runs in four overs, while off-spinner Archana Devi took three wickets for 14 runs. As a result, they lost the last 8 wickets with a difference of just 21 runs. The team collapsed for 66 runs in just 10 overs. Darcy Carter (24) was the top scorer. Meanwhile, with three wins in three matches, Team India continues to be at the top of Group-D with six points. With this, it seems that they have qualified for the Super Six. South Africa (4) and UAE (2) are in the next positions.
