Excellent class, even more excellent timing.. along with it a huge hunger to score runs.. All these combine to make Team India’s young player Shubman Gill. Badshah’s innings in Hyderabad broke many years old records in ODI cricket and became the new king of Team India. Before the first ODI against New Zealand, everyone was talking about Virat Kohli’s return to form. But, Shubman Gill made all of them mesmerize and wrote his name not only in Uppal Stadium but also in world cricket. He is stealing the hearts of the fans by raining runs with his bat. Shubman, who scored a century in the recent ODI against Sri Lanka, also destroyed the New Zealand bowlers in Hyderabad with the same ferocious innings. Shubman Gill scored a century here as well. Shubman Gill created a big record to his name with his century. Gill completed 1000 runs in the 19th ODI itself. This made him the fastest player to score 1000 ODI runs for India. Shubman Gill defeated Virat and Dhawan who did this feat in 24 ODIs. Players like Babar Azam and Vivian Richards also took 21 innings to complete 1000 ODI runs. The world record is currently held by Fakhar Zaman who scored 1000 ODI runs in 18 innings.

Shubman Gill scored his third century in just 19th ODI innings. He became the fastest Indian after Shikhar Dhawan to score three ODI centuries. Dhawan scored 3 ODI centuries in 17 innings. Shubman Gill created havoc in ODI cricket. Gill, who made his debut in 2019, didn’t get his chance until much later. But Gill made the most of the opportunity that came his way in 2022. Since then the player has not looked back. Gill’s ODI average is above 60. He is also scoring runs at a strike rate of over 100. Gill’s century after century makes it clear that perhaps this player is being called the new century machine.
