Team India smashed the target of 167 runs set by Safaris in just 16.4 overs by losing 3 wickets. Openers Shweta Sehrawat scored 92 not out in 57 balls (20 fours) and Shefali Verma scored 45 in 16 balls (9 fours, sixes). He added 77 runs for the first wicket in 7.1 overs. Shefali Outauna then continued the attack and White. Safari bowled the bowlers with a series of boundaries. After that Telangana girl Trisha (15), Soumya Tiwari (10) and Sonia (1 not out) completed the rest of the work. Host South Africa won the toss and batted first in this match which was held at the Benoni venue. Opener Seymour Lawrence batted brilliantly. 61 off just 44 balls with 9 fours and 1 six gave the team a good start. Team India’s openers were on fire in pursuit of the target. He rained boundaries from the first over. Shefali created havoc especially in the last over of the power play. Shefali hit the first five balls of this over to the boundary in a row and sent the last ball straight into the stands. So they scored 26 runs in that over. India scored 70 runs without losing a wicket in the powerplay with the force of the openers. Vice captain Shweta Sehrawat’s aggressiveness has not diminished despite the departure of the captain. The South African bowlers were showered with boundaries without giving any chance. He scored 92 runs in 57 balls and remained unbeaten and brought Team India to the shores of victory. Shweta, who played a key role in the victory of the Indian team with a brilliant innings, was awarded the player of the match award.
