
The Indian cricket team scored a huge score in the third ODI against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With Virat Kohli and opener Shubman Gill bursting with centuries, Team India scored 390 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs. The highlight of this match is Virat Kohli’s innings. After completing his century in 85 balls, the sky was the limit. He exploded with fours and sixes. Virat scored 166 runs in 110 balls. His innings had 13 fours and 8 sixes. Gill faced 97 balls and scored 116 runs. It has 14 fours and two sixes. This is the second century of Gill’s ODI career. Earlier he scored a century against Zimbabwe. At the same time, this is Kohli’s second highest score in ODIs. In this match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat. Rohit and Gill gave Team India a good start. Sri Lanka dominated the bowlers. But India lost their first wicket at 95 runs. Chamika Karunaratne struck the first blow for India by dismissing Rohit. Rohit scored 42 runs off 49 balls. There were two fours and three sixes in the hitman’s innings.
After Rohit’s dismissal, Kohli, who came to the crease along with Gill, crushed the Sri Lankan bowlers. A partnership of 131 runs was established for the second wicket. At 226 runs, Kohli continued his aggressiveness as Gil got out. He registered his second century of the series with consecutive boundaries. Earlier he scored a century in the first ODI as well. This is Kohli’s 10th century in ODIs against Sri Lanka. While Shreyas Iyer excelled with 38 runs, Rahul (7) and Suryakumar Yadav (4) failed. Akshar Patel remained not out with two runs. On behalf of Sri Lanka, Rachita scored 81 runs in 10 overs and took two wickets. Lahiru Kumar scored 87 runs in 10 overs and took two wickets. Karunaratne took one wicket for 58 runs in eight overs.
