Ecuador, who maintained this dominance until the end, hit the bottom of the FIFA World Cup. Ecuador is ranked 44th in the FIFA rankings, while Qatar is ranked 50th. This is the first time in the history of the tournament that the host team has lost the first match. A total of 32 teams are participating in this World Cup. They are divided into 8 groups of four teams each. The top two teams at the group level will advance to the prequarters.
