Former cricketer Chetan Sharma has announced the dissolution of the national men’s cricket team selection committee. It has also invited applications to constitute a new selection committee. As a part of this, BCCI canceled the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma. It has also invited applications to constitute a new selection committee. This was revealed through Twitter.

While Chetan Sharma is the chairman of the current selection committee, Sunil Joshi (South Zone), Harvinder Singh (Central Zone) and Debashish Mohanty (East Zone) are there. Team India played two consecutive T20 World Cups during the tenure of this selection committee. In last year’s World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates, the Virat Kohli-led Indian team was eliminated in the Super-12 round. In the latest World Cup as well, the home side is in the semis. BCCI has taken a sensational decision in this context. As part of this, the deadline for submission of applications to the new selection committee is November 28 till 6 pm. It also mentions what qualifications the applicants should have. BCCI has suggested that those who want to apply for the five seats in the selection committee should have played at least 7 Test matches, 30 First Class matches or 10 ODIs or 20 First Class matches. Also, it is said that he should have announced his retirement from cricket at least 5 years ago.
