After the IIC T20 World Cup tournament is over, all the cricket teams are focusing on the series. In the same order, Australia will play a three-match ODI series against the visiting team in England. As part of this, the first ODI match is being played in Adelaide on Thursday. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. There are surprisingly no new names in the Australian team. But, there was an interesting change in the England team. England fielded a player who had not even played domestic cricket for 3 years. The player who made his ODI debut in the first match against Australia was Luke Wood. The 27-year-old left-arm fast bowler has played just 4 matches in List A cricket. But, he got this opportunity based on those matches.

Liszt did not play a single match for 3 years

England captain Jos Buttler announced his team and handed over the ODI cap to Luke Wood. Luke Wood made his List A debut in 2016. From then till 2019, he played only 4 List A matches. But, after staying away from List A cricket for three years, now he got a chance in the England team. Having been confined to domestic cricket all these years, he is playing his first international match on Thursday.

Just 4 matches..5 wickets..

Between 2016-2019 he took 5 wickets and scored 73 runs in the 4 List A matches he played. Before making his ODI debut for England, Luke Wood also made his T20 debut against Pakistan in Karachi in September this year. So far he has played 2 T20 matches for England and took 3 wickets.

Keep the opportunity..

England did not field Sam Curran in the first ODI against Australia. He was replaced by Luke Wood. Sam Karan was the player of the series in the recently held IIC T20 World Cup tournament. Left-arm fast bowler Luke Wood, who now replaces Sam Curran, has to outperform him. The onus is now on him to make the most of the opportunity that has come his way.
