Danushka Gunathilaka: Bail denied to Sri Lankan cricketer in rape case.. Australia’s laws punish life imprisonment

Australian laws punish rapists with life imprisonment. In this context, it seems that the Lankan cricketer Dhanushka is also likely to be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sri Lankan cricketer Dhanushka Gunathilaka, who was arrested in a rape case, appeared in a Sydney court. The verdict denied him bail. But Gunathilak will now approach the New South Wales Supreme Court again for bail. If he doesn’t get bail here too, he will have to face a lot of trouble. Because according to Australian laws, rapists are sentenced to life imprisonment. In this context, it seems that Dhanushka is also likely to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Meanwhile, Dhanushka was arrested by the police on Sunday morning in the case of raping a woman. On November 2, Dhanushka was arrested for allegedly raping a young woman he met on a dating app. The Sri Lankan team, which has already left the World Cup tournament, went home without Dhanushka.

Banned from the team

Dhanushka, who made his international debut in 2015, has played eight Tests, 47 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals so far. But the star batsman is in the news not only for the game but also for the controversies. In 2018, Gunathilak along with his friend attempted to rape a Norwegian woman. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board suspended him for 6 matches. However, Dhanushka did not change his behavior and raped a young woman. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board is also against him on this matter. They have already issued a statement that they will cooperate in all ways with the investigations of the Australian police. The Sri Lankan board said that they are expelling him from all types of cricket formats.
