Team India’s former captain MS Dhoni approached the High Court. Dhoni filed a petition in the Madras High Court against IPS officer G Sampath. The case came up for hearing before a Division Bench headed by Justice PN Prakash. However, the case was not heard on Friday. Dhoni approached the Madras High Court over the comments made by an IPS officer against Dhoni in the 2014 match-fixing case.

In 2014, Sampath Kumar, who was the then Inspector General of Police, filed a civil suit against Dhoni to permanently stop him from making any announcement regarding match-fixing and spot-fixing of matches. So on March 18, 2014, the court ruled that Sampath Kumar should not make any statement against Dhoni. However, despite the order of this court, Sampath Kumar filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court.

For accusing him of match-fixing, along with the official, Zee Media Corporation paid Rs. Dhoni filed a petition seeking compensation of 100 crores. In an additional written statement filed by him on December 17, 2021, Dhoni alleged that Sampath Kumar had made defamatory statements against the apex court, the High Court. Meanwhile, it is reported that Dhoni’s petition is likely to be heard on Tuesday.
