South Africa beat India by 5 wickets in the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Now South Africa is the topper in Group 2. Team India led by Rohit Sharma stood second. It is known that except for Suryakumar Yadav, the rest of the batters flopped in this match. Virender Sehwag, now known as the ‘Sultan of Multan’, has questioned the poor form of wicketkeeper-cum-batsman Dinesh Karthik. Sehwag said- This is not a Bengaluru wicket. He said that Rishabh Pant should be given a chance in his place.
Karthik managed only 6 runs in 15 balls against South Africa. Even against Pakistan he was dismissed at the last moment when the team needed an experienced batsman. However, India won that match. In the third match i.e. against South Africa, none of the Indian batsmen could score more than 15 runs except Suriya.
Sehwag raised questions..
In an interview given to the cricket website ‘Cricbuzz’, Sehwag spoke about Pant and Karthik. Karthik questions the poor form. Veeru said – This is not a Bengaluru wicket. It should be remembered that Australian wickets are very bouncy and fast. When was the last time Dinesh played in Australia? When has he played on such a bouncy track? He has no experience of playing on such wickets. So he said that it would be better if Rishabh Pant was given a chance instead of Karthik.
Team management decision..
According to Sehwag, Pant has experience playing in Australia. He played there in Test and ODI formats. He played a historic innings at the Gabba in Brisbane. Who to feed and who to keep away is a team management decision. If Karthik fits his plan, the team will have to sideline him. In my opinion, it would have been better if Rishabh had played from the first match.
Karthik injured in South Africa match..
Karthik was injured in the match against South Africa. Injured back while keeping. Later he was replaced by Rishabh Pant behind the wicket. It seems that Karthik is unlikely to play the next match. Team India’s next match will be against Bangladesh in Adelaide on Wednesday, November 2. Rishabh Pant has a chance to join the playing XI in Karthik’s place.
The opening pair failed against South Africa.. but Suryakumar’s stormy innings..
The pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma failed once again in the match against South Africa. Rahul reached the pavilion for just 9 runs. While Rohit scored 15 runs. Suryakumar Yadav continued his excellent form. He scored a half-century of 68 off 40 balls to take India to 133 runs. But, in the May match, India failed in fielding and bowling.. and lost by 5 wickets.
