The BCCI committee has started discussions with the franchise owners regarding the IPL auction. The BCCI will announce the venue for the mini auction as soon as the franchise is approved.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to hold the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction outside the country this year. According to reports, IPL has chosen a venue for the auction. Istanbul, Turkey has been chosen as the first choice to host the auction. On the other hand, if the IPL teams are not ready for Istanbul, then the auction will be held in Bengaluru. The BCCI committee has started discussions with the franchise owners regarding the IPL auction in Istanbul. The BCCI will announce the venue for the mini auction as soon as the franchise is approved. If no consensus is reached on Istanbul, a mini-auction will be held in Bangalore.
Why not auction in London..
Discussions are already underway on conducting IPL auctions abroad. A one-day workshop was held in Singapore for the IPL auction before Corona. After that permission was given to conduct the auction in London. However, the auction is not taking place in London as the franchise owners have refused.
Bidding on December 16.
According to media reports, IPL auction may be held on December 16. But BCCI has not yet made any official statement on this. At the same time, the franchise has to share the information regarding the release of the players with the BCCI by November 15. After last year’s mega auction, mini auction will be held this year. It means that all the teams can keep their favorite players with them.
Rs. 5 crore increased purse..
Rs.5 crores have been increased in the purse of the teams for the mini auction. Last year, Rs.90 crore was allocated to buy players with the teams. This year the teams have kept Rs.95 crores in their purse. IPL 2023 is expected to start in the third week of March and continue till the end of May.

In 2022 IPL will be played with 10 teams instead of 8 teams. Two new teams like Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have entered the tournament. In the final of the tournament, Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans won by 7 wickets against Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals. Apart from the first season in 2008, Gujarat Titans became the first team to win the title in their first tournament.
