The T20 World Cup 2022 started with the victory of Bangladesh in the Super-12 round. They defeated Netherlands by 9 runs in their first match in Group-2. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 144 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. With this, the Netherlands team collapsed to 135 runs. Taskin Ahmed played a vital role in Bangladesh’s victory. He gave 25 runs in 4 overs and took 4 wickets. Here Netherlands won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat. Bangladesh got off to a good start and added 43 runs for the first wicket in 5.1 overs. After the dismissal of Soumya Sarkar (14), it rained wickets. Nazmul Hossain (25), Litton Das (9) and Shakib Al Hasan (7) immediately made their way to the pavilion. In the lower order, Mossadiq Hossain played the fastest innings with 18 runs off 13 balls and took the Bangladesh team past 140.

In the fight till the last over, Netherlands started chasing the target of 145 runs. Netherlands lost two wickets without scoring any runs. The third wicket also fell at a total of 13 runs. From here Colin Ackerman played an innings with 62 runs off 48 balls. He froze at one end. He was only supported by Scott Edwards (16) from the other end. Netherlands’ hopes were also dashed with the dismissal of Colin Akerman.
