According to a New York Post report, the accident took place on Sunday (September 18), the last day of the championship round as part of the Reno Air Races. In the third lap of the jet glow race, a fatal accident occurred at outer pylon five.. The aircraft including the pilot was completely burnt. With this, all the other pilots were grounded. Officials have not yet released the name of the deceased pilot. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident, Race Chairman Fred Telling told the media that none of the other pilots involved in the crash were injured.



Shortly after the incident, all other events scheduled for the final day were cancelled. The Reno Air Races are held annually in September at the Reno Stead Airport in Nevada. In this event, competitions are held between different aircraft like biplanes and jet planes.
