Arshdeep Singh: BCCI has announced Team India for the T20 World Cup to be held in October. Many young cricketers have got a place in this team. But a player whose real name was not heard in Team India until six months ago will board the flight to Australia for the short World Cup. He is Punjab swing bowler Arshdeep Singh. As a child, he learned the skills of cricket under the inspiration of his father, Darshan Singh, and now he has reached the level of representing the national team. Once he saw Arshdeep throwing an inswinger for fun, his father admitted his son to Jaswant Roy Academy in Chandigarh. But this academy was far from home. As a result, Arshdeep used to go to the cricket academy on a bicycle every day.
But once Arshdeep had to go to the academy on foot as his bicycle got punctured. But it was already too late for practice. The coach gave him punishment. ‘It was very hot that day. Arshdeep came late to practice. So I gave him punishment. After practice, I noticed that there was no bicycle in the parking lot. When I asked him about this, he told the truth. Arshdeep told me that day that his only goal is to play for Team India,’ the coach recalled the incident. Arshdeep came to light through IPL. Especially in IPL-2022, he bowled sharp yorkers and took the batsmen by storm. Based on this talent, he got a place in Team India. He earned a place in the announced Team India for the T20 series on the tour of England in July. After that his journey did not stop. Arshdeep’s specialty is bowling brilliantly in the death overs. The Punjabi seamer, who has played 11 T20 matches for India so far, has taken a total of 14 wickets. In this background, expectations are high on him in the T20 World Cup.
