The students started a massive agitation from Saturday night to protest the behavior of the university authorities. 60 students staged a sit-in in the campus demanding strict action against those who made the bathing scenes viral. On this occasion, the students got into an argument with the police. As the situation got out of control, holidays were declared for the university for two consecutive days. The university is investigating the incident since Saturday night. Officials say that the girl who is accused of making the videos viral only shared her photos and video with her boyfriend. A case was registered under various sections on this incident.. The student was arrested and the investigation was started. She went to Shimla to take custody of her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, the university on Sunday denied the claims that dozens of obscene videos of hostel girls were leaked. It said that only one student shared her video. Chancellor Dr RS Bawa said that the media reports that 60 objectionable MMS videos related to students have been found are completely false and baseless. She said that she did not share any videos.. She only shared a personal video to her boyfriend. However, during the investigation, Mohali police chief Vivek Soni said that only one video related to the accused was found. Many electronic devices and mobile phones have been seized from the university and they are being sent for forensic examination.

He denied the news that there were many suicide attempts in the university after the viral incident of the videos of female students. He also said that no one has committed suicide in the university. They said that they are collecting evidence on the incident. Vivek Soni appealed to people not to believe rumours.

The Punjab government has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident. They say that there is no truth in the news that videos of university students have gone viral. Punjab IG Gurpreet Dev said that the youth from Shimla will also be taken into custody and questioned.
