The Maoists suffered a huge setback on the Andhra-Odisha border. 700 Maoist sympathizers from the same area surrendered before the BSF and Malkangiri police on Saturday. Among those who surrendered were 300 militia members from different villages. Along with militia members from Padalput, Kusumput, Matamput and Jodigumma villages under Munchingput police station of Alluri Sitaramaraju district in Andhra Pradesh, militia members from Bhajaguda, Byseguda, Khalguda, Patraput, Vandepadar, Sambalpur and Sindhiput villages of Malkangiri district in Odisha.
They all surrendered in the presence of Koraput DIG Rajesh Pandit, BSF DIG Madanlal, Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadwani and 65th Battalion CEO TS Reddy. Later, they got angry at the anarchy of the Maoists. The Maoists burnt the dresses given to them. Slogans were raised against them. They said that Maoists are becoming an obstacle to development.
They said that they were attracted to the development programs going on in the AOB area. Police said that 550 people on 22nd of last month, 347 people on June 11 and 50 Maoist sympathizers on June 2 did not surrender. The police congratulated that they met in the stream of life.
