On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 72nd birthday, the Union Ministry of Culture has launched the fourth edition of the e-auction of his prestigious and memorable gifts. The 16-day e-auction will end on October 2.
While the exhibition of the prizes will be held at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Delhi, the government has said that everyone can see them for free. The funds collected through the e-auction will be used for the ‘Namami Gange’ project which is contributing to the protection and rejuvenation of the Ganges.
About 1200 mementos and gift items were auctioned. Models of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Varanasi’s Kashi-Vishwanadha Temple and other interesting gifts are in this fourth edition of the e-auction. While the first e-auction was held in 2019, around 1,805 prizes were put up for bidding. In the second edition, 2,772 prize items were auctioned. It is known that 1,348 items were placed in the third edition of the auction held in September 2021.
