BCCI: Will both of them get promotions in the Board of Control for Cricket in India-BCCI? Will one go to the International Cricket Council? Will the other get a promotion in his own organization? Are the rumors heard in the past true? Sourav Ganguly is already the president of BCCI and Jaisha is continuing as the secretary. Although there is some controversy over their tenure, the Supreme Court has given a green signal for both of them to continue in BCCI till 2025. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India has a different idea. While Sourav Ganguly is taking steps towards the post of International Cricket Council-ICC Chairman, it seems that the stage is being prepared for the selection of Jai Shah as the President of the Board. Recently, rumors that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has resigned and Jai Shah will be the next president are doing the rounds on social media. But BCCI officially denied it. It is clear that there is no truth in that campaign. But looking at the current situation, it seems that there is a possibility of changes in the BCCI management. Information is coming from the BCCI sources that Sourav Ganguly will take over the duties of the ICC Chairman in the next two months, i.e. around November.

The election for the top post will be held in the background of the completion of the tenure of the current ICC Chairman Greg Barkley. But Greg Barkley expressed his interest at the annual meeting in Birmingham to continue in office for another two years. A new procedure for electing a new chairman was decided at the Birmingham meeting. A two-thirds majority is not required for the election of the Chairman. According to the recent proposal, the candidate who gets 51 percent of the votes will be the winner. So if he gets the votes of 9 directors in the 16 member board he can be elected as chairman. It is reported that BCCI is supporting Sourav Ganguly’s candidature in this context. If Sourav Ganguly is elected as the ICC Chairman, he will become the fifth Indian to hold the post. Earlier Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar continued in this position. Earlier, Jagmohan Dalmiya and Sharad Pawar were the ICC chairmen.

If BCCI president Sourav Ganguly goes as ICC chairman, there is a possibility that the position will be replaced by current BCCI secretary Jaisha. There are chances that the current board treasurer Arun Dhumal will be elected as the secretary. At present 15 state associations are supporting Jai Shah. The BCCI elections will be held soon after the Supreme Court approved the amendments in the board’s constitution. The tenure of the current executive committee ends this month. Elections will be held immediately. About 15 state associations are backing Jai Shah’s candidature for the post of president. Most communities believe that Jai Shah made IPL happen during the covid pandemic. Even though there are chances of declaring support for Jai Shah’s candidature as BCCI president, what is the thought of BCCI leaders will be known in a few days.
