The longest bridge built over water in our country has become available. This bridge was built connecting the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Named Bhupen Hazarika Sethu, this bridge is 9.15 km long. The construction was completed at a cost of around 1000 crore rupees. This bridge will not only help in transportation between the two states but will also serve a vital role in national defence. This bridge has been made strong to withstand heavy tanks. This bridge will be of great use to the Indian Army at a time when China is doing repeated provocations in the Arunachal Pradesh region. ‘Bhupen Hazarika Setu’ bridge was built connecting the northern region of Assam with the eastern region of Arunachal Pradesh. It was established on Lohit, a tributary of the Brahmaputra, connecting Dhola in the south to Saadia village in the north in Tinsukia district. Navayuga Engineering Company of Hyderabad has constructed this bridge. The bridge is named after Assamese poet, writer, musician, playback singer, actor, producer, Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.
