According to the police, at around 5 pm, gunmen on a motorcycle came to Malhipur Chowk in Begusarai town and opened fire targeting the shops in the crowded area. After that the gunmen went to Barauni Thermal Chowk, Barauni, Teghra, Bachwara, Rajendra Bridge and continued firing on people indiscriminately. A 30-year-old man named Chandan Kumar was killed and 11 others were seriously injured in the riots. Some of the injured were admitted to the government hospital in Begusarai, while others were shifted to Patna for better treatment.

Patna was on alert after the firing in Begusarai. The police were alerted as soon as they came to know that the criminals had run towards Patna. ADG Headquarters Jitendra Singh Gangwar said that security has been tightened in Patna and all entry points have been blocked after the incident.
