What’d He Say?!?!?

Phil Hare is embarrassing our district all over the country and we need to remove him before its too late (see 1:48 in the video above). Hare continues to say the most silly things and people all over the country are noticing. Not only that, Hare votes with Nancy Pelosi 98.8% of the time.

Phil Hare = A Lot More Gov’t Spending

As Bobby Schilling was in the Quad Cities yesterday calling for an end to government takeovers, massive spending, crushing deficits, high taxes, and bailouts, the Hare campaign continued its crusade against the private market and the private sector of the economy.

Hare spokesman Tim Schlittner was quoted in the Quad-City Times today. The Hare campaign’s only response to the problems of government spending and government takeovers was that, “The government does not control health care. The health care reform bill we passed didn’t even include a public option.” It is clear that Phil Hare wants more control and that he wants a public option that would cost even more to the taxpayers. Phil Hare believes that more government spending will fix our economy because he thinks government can solve our problems better than private individuals and free private enterprise.

Phil Hare has voted with Nancy Pelosi on almost every vote he has ever taken in Congress, a 98.8% rating with Pelosi. Plain and simple, Phil Hare has always been, and always will be, an advocate for big liberal interests, out-of-control spending, reckless deficits, and failed economic policies.

Can someone share this chart from the Joint Economic Committee with Phil Hare if he ever decides to have another town hall meeting? Even Hare should know that without the public option, the heavy hand of government is all over our health care system. The JEC chart below shows just some of the growth of taxes, bureaucracy, and new government programs that Hare voted for.

(... And Phil Hare wanted to add a public option to this maze?)

Americans and the people of the 17th district are facing some serious economic issues and these disagreements on economic policy highlight, yet again, the need for several debates in the 17th district.

Voters are excited by the alternative Bobby offers. People are resonating with Bobby’s proposals for cutting wasteful spending, growing jobs with Kennedy and Reagan style tax cuts, and his pledge to fight for the middle class.

Unlike Hare, Bobby knows we can’t continue down this failed course that Nancy Pelosi has led us — we can’t afford to gamble our future with Phil Hare. As you know, we are at a crossroads and we need your help.

Please do what you can today to help Bobby take back our government so we can remove Hare and get people back to work by cutting spending, lowering taxes, and rolling government back from crowding out the private sector. Contribute to Bobby’s MoneyBomb today to make a difference and send the message that you want real change. Help us remove Hare today.

Soon after the health care bill passed, a number of companies, including Caterpillar and Deere, announced that the bill would reduce their profits by $100 to $200 million. Why did they do this? It is a move required by the Securities and Exchange Commission. All companies have to announce any material loss in income due to government legislation in the quarter that the legislation passed.

Henry Waxman, chair of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care, soon afterward sent a letter to Caterpillar and Deere, demanding that they produce their analysis of the impact of the health care bill on their profits as well as any documents, including emails, that discussed the impact of the health care bill on their bottom line.

Waxman’s message was clear: he felt that the companies–which were not fond of reform and made no bones about it–announced their profit reductions to embarrass him and he was going to make them pay.

Ultimately, he realized that any hearing was going to make him look ridiculous–badgering companies who were complying with SEC regulations was going to get him no points, and he had already made his point–mess with him and he will use his committee to silence you.

The ranking republican member of the committee, Joe Barton (who also happened to be one of the first members of congress to support Bobby Schilling) took to the floor of the house to denounce Waxman’s machinations and describe them for what they were–an abuse of power.

Where was Phil Hare this whole time? In the WGEM tapes from his April 1, Quincy townhall he said that he would go to national publications, such as Politico, and defend Caterpillar and Deere against these vicious attacks against them and their employees. Why did he break his promise?

It is time to bring some restraint and integrity to Congress. It’s time to elect Bobby Schilling.

“Where’s Phil?”

EAST MOLINE, IL– Bobby Schilling, the Republican Candidate for the Illinois 17th Congressional District, declared the Democratic Party is attempting to intimidate companies who fail to yield to the party’s agenda. Democratic leadership recently demanded that the CEOs of John Deere and Caterpillar appear before Congress and surrender company documents, a move that has apparently met with the tacit approval of the district’s current Congressman, Phil Hare.

“Our Congressman cannot even muster the smallest protest to this threat to our community’s jobs and livelihoods while he marches in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman, and the liberal California Congressmen who run our government,” Schilling said.

On March 26th, Rep. Henry Waxman, the Chair of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee, issued letters to the CEOs of Caterpillar and John Deere, the two largest employers in the 17th district, demanding that they turn over any and all documents and emails related to their recent earnings statements and that they testify before Congress to explain their actions. Both companies, along with a host of other Fortune 500 companies, announced that the latest healthcare legislation will lower future profits by hundreds of millions of dollars, which will hurt their employees as well as the economies they are located in. The companies explained in their announcements that they had to estimate the legislation’s impact on profits soon after the legislation passed in order to comply with SEC regulations.

Schilling said that these “companies employ thousands of workers in our district, and the recently passed healthcare legislation will cost each company hundreds of millions of dollars. More importantly, the legislation takes away any incentive these companies have to provide retiree drug benefits. By merely reporting these facts, as they are required to do by the Financial Accounting and Standards Board, Chairman Waxman has decided to rake them over the coals and bring their CEOs to DC for what will amount to little more than a show trial.

“Given Hare’s silence on the subject, it seems that when he has to choose between loyalty to his party’s leadership and jobs in his district, he sticks with his party bosses. My loyalty will always be to the jobs of the men and women who live and work in the 17th district of Illinois.”

Schilling Condemns Violence and Threats
Says debate should go on

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the IL-17 District, condemned violence and threats against political candidates today. In an article published in the national political publication, Politico, Rep. Phil Hare voiced fear over growing threats of violence. Schilling said that violence in politics is never acceptable and that anyone giving threats should be punished.

“Violence and threats of violence, are not just un-American, they are immoral and despicable,” said Schilling. “However, I do not believe that this should hamper the debate. Our representatives should have to face the people who voted them into office and be held accountable for their votes. The voters of the 17th District are upstanding citizens. They are not monsters that Congressman Hare should hide from. They are simply concerned citizens who are worried about how they are going to pay their mortgage, their car payments, their utilities and pay the massive tax increases associated with this healthcare takeover.”

In the Politico article, Congressman Hare mentioned that he was planning on having 8 town hall meetings on healthcare. He went on to say that he might have to cancel them over concerns for his safety. Schilling responded and said that fear should never constrain the quest for American greatness.

“President Roosevelt was famous for saying that ‘The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself,’” said Schilling. “We cannot let random threats of violence stop this debate. Martin Luther King Jr. had reason to fear for his life and family, when he marched for civil rights, but he still marched. Susan B. Anthony had reason to fear for her life and family, when she fought for women’s rights, but she still fought. Our Founding Fathers had reason to fear for their lives and families, when they signed the Declaration of Independence, but they still signed it. If Rep. Hare truly believes in what he votes on, then he should have no fear of facing his voters. Rep. Hare shouldn’t hide behind the threats of a small, minute faction of extremists and use it as a reason to stop this debate.”

Schilling also said that he knows many people who are associated with the tea parties and 9/12 groups and that all of them are “upstanding and moral people.”

Schilling, a native of Rock Island. graduated from Alleman High School and attended Black Hawk College. Schilling, a local business owner and father of ten children, is the Republican candidate for the 17th Congressional District in Illinois. Bobby is running on a platform of bring jobs and real representation back to the 17th District. Earlier this year, Schilling conducted a 34-city “Bob’s for Jobs” tour, where he met with voters and employers all across the 17th District.

Says Hare should have actually read the bill

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the IL-17 District, criticized the new healthcare law for having a gap in protection for children with pre-existing medical conditions. According to the spokesperson for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which was responsible for writing a large part of the recently passed bill, the new law still allows insurance companies to refuse new coverage to children with pre-existing conditions. Schilling said that Rep. Hare owes an explanation and possibly, a retraction of former statements about the bill’s merits.

“This is a shame,” said Schilling. “Again the federal government and our representatives have misled us. They made this bill sound as if it would fix all of our problems. Clearly it does not. Rep. Hare would have known about this new loophole if he had read the bill. He should apologize for misleading the people of his district.”

“Kill the Bill” Money Bomb is TODAY

Today members of Congress plan to vote on the most important legislation in the history of the United States.

The vote on the current Healthcare Reform bill today will take America in one of two directions; either down the path of Europe, where government intrusion and interference, high debt burdens, and high unemployment rates are regarded as part of the norm or down our own path, a path in which we, citizens of the United States, make our own choices, lead our own lives and create a better future for our children.

Together, we can make the difference right now.

I am asking you to join with us on our march to Washington next November, to make sure that no matter what Congress decides today, that your voice will be represented and that this healthcare deform bill will be repealed.

The last day of the “3/21 Kill the Bill” money-bomb is here. Because of people like you we have almost doubled our goal and had to readjust it three times. I wanted to personally say thank you and remind you to give today a final push with your family and friends. Make sure that everyone you know donates what they can, even if it is just $5 or $10. It all adds up and it all matters.

For example $10 gets us 10 yard signs. A donation of $5 gets us 15 bumperstickers. A donation of $8.80 sends out direct mail pieces to 20 families. Any donation helps and gets us closer to beating another record and even closer to getting to Washington.

In case you haven’t donated yet or have forgotten the money-bomb website it’s www.bobby321.com

Donate $5, $10, $15 or whatever you can afford to help kill the bill.

With your help, we can kill this government takeover together!

Hare Votes for ‘Slaughter’ Rule

Check it out. http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2010/roll129.xml

It makes me wonder how he would feel if President Bush had used this to ram through his Social Security reform. Just another reason for un-electing our misrepresentative.

Check out Bobby’s op-ed on BigGovernment.com

All over the country, voters have been flooding their representatives with calls, letters and emails urging them to kill the current healthcare bill. Instead of killing the healthcare bill, Congress is now talking about the “Slaughter solution.”

Don’t be confused. The “Slaughter solution” has nothing to do with killing the bill. It is actually named after Democratic congresswoman Louise Slaughter, chair of the House Rules Committee. It is a backdoor, parliamentary procedure in which the House can pass the healthcare bill without even voting on it. Certain members of Congress think that the American people are so stupid that this backdoor trick will actually work in fooling them.

It won’t work.

In 1994, the Democrat controlled Congress tried to pass the same type of healthcare overhaul, except this time they called it “Hillarycare.” While Hillarycare didn’t pass, it led to the biggest overturn in power since President Truman. Voters were outraged that Congress even tried such a power grab. I can’t imagine they will react any differently if Congress actually goes through with this overhaul—let alone pass it through a cowardly backhanded technique.

If the liberals in Congress plan on using a backdoor option to push this monstrosity through, then they better start packing their bags right now.

Is this the type of “change” that Americans voted for in 2008? Is this the quality and type of “leadership” that we expect of our representatives? Heck, I don’t expect this type of cowardice from my 2-year old daughter Sophia, let alone grown men and women in Congress.

Our Congressional leaders need to be just that: Leaders. We didn’t elect our representatives to go to Congress and hide behind an unconstitutional parliamentary procedure and a kooky congresswoman from San Francisco. We elected them to vote on our behalf and represent us. If our elected representatives are truly doing their job and representing their constituents, then they should be proud of the votes that they cast.

I am going to challenge all members of Congress, including my opponent Rep. Phil Hare, to cast an up or down vote on Healthcare. Not only am I going to challenge them to cast a vote on healthcare, I challenge them to fight against the “Slaughter solution.” Prove that you are not just a rank and file “yes-man.” Have the courage to stand up for what is right. This is your chance to prove that Nancy Pelosi doesn’t control every decision that you make on the floor.

If you are going to push this extreme leftist agenda on the American people, then you should at least have the guts to put your name to it.

This Sunday, 3/21, is the deadline that leaders in Congress have set for the Healthcare bill. This Sunday, 3/21, is also the deadline for our campaign’s money-bomb fundraising drive against this health care monstrosity. We have been petitioning our supporters and people across the country to show their opposition to this healthcare overhaul by donating money to our campaign. It should be clear that we are going to Congress to stop or repeal this egregious piece of legislation.

Schilling Demands Vote on Healthcare

Says voters deserve honest, straightforward leaders

EAST MOLINE, IL–Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District, issued the following statement today in regard to the healthcare debate:

“Congress should not use tricky back door maneuvers to pass this healthcare overhaul. All of our elected leaders, including Congressman Hare, should take a leadership role with an up or down vote. If this healthcare bill is going to be as great as they say it is, then there is no reason for our representatives to be hiding behind Nancy Pelosi. They should be proud of where they stand on the issue, especially if they are truly representing their constituents. We elected our Congressional leaders to ‘lead’ not cower behind parliamentary procedures. The least that they owe us is an open and honest, up or down vote on the biggest issue since our nation was founded.”
